Best places to eat in Rome during the summer

Giolitti

Gelato is an essential when being in Rome during the summer! It’s the perfect way to cool down in the heat while getting to spend time with friends! With a gelateria on every corner, it can be a bit overwhelming when deciding where to get your gelato. One of my favorite places to grab gelato when I was abroad in Rome was Giolitti. They have a wide variety of gelato flavors and double as a pasticceria, serving ice cream, pastries, and cake so this is the perfect place for you if you have a sweet tooth. Giolitti is short walk from the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain so it is perfect to get on the way there or back from visiting those attractions.

Campo De’ Fiori Market

A great place to get a refreshing treat is the Campo de’ Fiori Market. This market, open until 2 PM Monday through Saturday, is located just 5 minutes away from Piazza Navona. There are many types of food vendors there, but the best are the fruit stands that sell delicious, fresh fruit and can make you a custom smoothie. There are also stands that sell locally grown vegetables and artisanal products, creating a vibrant tapestry of flavors and colors. As you stroll through Campo de’ Fiori Market, the aroma of ripe fruits and the vivid displays of seasonal vegetables captivate your senses.

Mondo Arancina

If you are craving something more savory, Mondo Arancina…. Mondo Arancina is vegan-friendly a chain fast food restaurant that specializes in Sicilian food. They serve pizza by the half slice, sandwiches, pastries, but the best food they serve is the arancini which are fried rice and mozzarella balls. They have locations all throughout Rome but one to keep an eye out for is on Via Flaminia, located just blocks away from Temple’s campus and is great to grab something to eat in between classes. There is also a location on Via Marcantonio Colonna in Prati, where the Temple shared apartments are located. They are open from the morning all the way until midnight, so it is great spot to stop by either for breakfast or a late night snack.
